FAMILIES NEWS

Another year has flew by with many families leaving us and just as many joining us; we have had our normal events such as Kids Disco's, Jamboree's and a Best Garden Competition but our main focus at the moment is the Unit Arms Plot move, the families are really upbeat about the move and are now getting "itchy feet".

Once again I have been ably assisted by my team, sadly though I will be losing 2 of them as CSgt Kev "Strangler" Horton and Sgt Ron "Mally" Maloney are both due out of the army shortly and won't be joining us on the Emerald Isle. Our best wishes and thanks go to the pair of them and their wives Marie, Maria and their families.

Also this year we have had a lot of success in a working partnership with the Wives Club and the HIVE, with the community on the Dale feeling the benefit of this partnership. A big thank you must go out to Becki Bulmer and the Wives Club Committee and Julian Stothard and her willing helpers in the Hive. In addition to those 2 organisations there are numerous wives (unfortunately too many to mention) on the Dale who have helped in many ways, thank you to you all. Well done to Cpl Colin Sharp who received some recognition for his hard work by being selected to receive the Merchant Adventurers of the City of York Award.

A busy challenging period lies ahead of us as the unit move looms closer but we are all looking forward to the challenge. " Nec Asperra Terrant"
