The AFPRB has recommended a general basic pay increase of 3.3%; however trained Privates and Lance Corporals, Lieutenants and Captains will receive 3.8%. In addition the pay of 2nd Lieutenants will be increased to better allow the Services to compete for better graduate recruits.

The X Factor
The X Factor, which is included in basic pay to
recognise the relative disadvantages of service life compared to civilian
employment, remains unchanged at 12%.
The Service Families Accommodation (SFA) charges (less water and sewerage charges) have risen between 5.3% for the best quality senior officers' accommodation to 3.3% for Other Ranks. There is no increase in charges for Grade 4 accommodation. This will mean rises from just under £4.83 per week for senior officers to 21 pence per week for Other Ranks in the poorest accommodation. Single accommodation charges will increase by between 3.3% for Grade 1 to no increase at all for Grade 4 accommodation. This is the third year running that there has been no increase in Grade 4 accommodation.
